TiRon & Ayomari - Fin
TiRon x Ayomari x Blu - Shaka’s (1/28)
Photography from yours truly.
- I got in around 10:15 as the place was beginning to fill up, camera in hand and met up with some of friends that were already there.
- Ohbliv performed first to set the tone with the crowd. His sample flips were crazy and man, I need to get more of his stuff I thoroughly like his work.
- The crowd atmosphere was incredible too. I never would have thought there would be as many people in the Seven Cities that would fuck with Hip-Hop like this and seeing that it’s rare to see cats like TiRon, Ayomari, & Blu here they were amped.
- Then a local band named Rose & Vines perform and they were pretty cool. The lead singer, Lloyd Vines’ mother is MILF quality and so are her cougar friends that came to support him. It was a nice hybrid of Punk, Hip-Hop, and M83-esque craziness. I enjoyed it.
- It was like half concert/half party as drunk white girls were dancing during intermission to the songs that were playing on stage. Then this big black girl came up with her friend and started twerking….with no panties on. Man, the sight really wasn’t pretty as that ass was slop dropping and popping when “The Motto” played.
- TiRon & Ayomari killed it, hands down. They played most of their Sucker For Pumps material, but I damn near lost it when I heard “Sydney”. That song brings a ton of memories for me and I was rapping word-for-word.
- Blu had a passable performance, and I credit that to the VA crowd. Seeing that it was rare and all, the people ate up his set, which contained mostly of his newer stuff and a few Below The Heavens tracks. TiRon and Ayomari joined him to end the set and while Blu was fumbling his words on “Blu Collar Worker”, Ronnie saved his ass with the lines. It was fantastic.
- Ronnie and Mari are cool people too when I spoke with them after, and they signed my copy of ASFP too. In actuality, I was networking heavy with them as we had mutual friends and got to chill with them for a bit. Mari is trill as hell man, and of course Ronnie appreciated the love and support. Hopefully they’re able to come through VA again and I get to hang with them some more.
- Blu was faded as fuck when I spoke with him lol. I told him how much I loved his music and he was zoned out, saying “Cool man, that’s dope”.
- I took tons of pictures and some white girls were digging my presence. I knew I should have went to ODU smh.
- Oh and I kept networking with people, getting good vibes, and hoping to bring the SHHO Organization to Hampton University as we need it.
If anything, this night could have very well be one of the most defining moments of my life as I feel that I’m finding my true calling here. From Journalism, to Photography, and straight up Hip-Hop: my love for it grows deep and in 2012, I’m looking to make some moves. Amazing night that could have gone longer with the Afterparty but a nigga got School Business to attend to later.
If I don’t get any pics up now, they will be up later on. But until then, y’all be cool.
Outty 5000.
